Born at Fox Bay East in 1941, moved to Dunnose Head with his family at the age of six. Started working on the farm at the age of thirteen, moved to Fox Bay on 1960 and worked there until moving to New Zealand in late 1966.

Married Sue in New Zealand in 1970 and had Craig and Jenny, both now living in the Falkland Islands. Has three Falkland Island grandsons.

Got involved with a soccer club and played until aged 50 then got into indoor bowls with two Auckland, five Manukau City and one New Zealand titles. Played golf for many years but the handicap seemed to get stuck on fourteen.

In 2002 George retired and was invited to go to the Falklands and work in an Abattior that was being set up to export lamb and mutton. Returning to New Zealand in October 2003 he joined the Papatoetoe Hunters Corner Bowling Club and has played there ever since, having managed one single and two fours titles and have played rep bowls for Counties Manukau against Auckland on three occasions.

More about Gerald

Born in March 1937 in Stanley, Falkland Islands, the fifth child of Emma (nee Aldridge) and Bob Reive. All his schooling was in the Falklands. Became a wireless operator at Stanley Wireless Station from 1951 to 1958. He played six seasons in Falkland Islands Football League in the 1950's and won five cups. He also played about ten games for the First Eleven.

Arrived in New Zealand in June 1958. He married Shirley in 1962 and has three children and five grandchildren. He now lives in Papatoetoe, a southern suburb of Auckland.

Was involved in children's soccer and athletics as coach and manager. Joined the Papatoetoe Bowling Club in 1989 with Shirley and youngest child, Michael. Gerald won Club Fours title twice, triples once and pairs four times (with Michael). Has never won a Centre (Counties Manukau) title but runner up five times, twice in Fours, three times in Pairs. (with Michael)

Enjoyed a six week visit to the Falkland Islands with Shirley in 2001, staying with Gladys and Tony Carey.
