Report from Derek
Well we have had quite a day today. Weather was hot but not too bad and humidity ok. Wind was fishtailing, which made for some interesting scores especially as the day went on. Falklands shot in the first detail and did well.
Gareth scored 73 out of 75 (with a magpie!!!) and Derek scored 68 (with 3 magpies!!), so they will eat well tonight.
This has provisionally moved us up a place to 15th again, but all could change over night as many shooters had problems and 4 countries have placed protests. They are Canada, Northern Island, South Africa and Wales. Several of these teams had to move targets part way through their shoot due to what is believed to be malfunction of the electronic targets. There have been many issues with these targets with misses often being marked when they are not a miss, high shots or low shots etc for no reason. Very frustrating for all.
In the individual the wind was harder for our guys (and some of the others) to read. This lead to a lot of low scores. Derek scored 61 and Gareth 62. They have also both moved up 1 place in this competition. We shot first and our bus left before all the other teams had completed their shoot so we are not sure of the outcome of any appeals etc until the morning.
Tomorrow is our last day and this will be 2 shoots at 1000 yards. Both the pairs and individual will be decided on these shoots. One thing we will not miss is the long bus rides to and from the range, or the spam rolls for lunch every day. Some of the Falkland team hope to come and watch tomorrow so that will be good for Derek & Gareth.
